18 year old arrested for having child pornography

In a recent article on newsday.com, an FBI investigation into online file transfers led to the arrest of an 18-year old student from Lousiana State University where he was charged with 12 counts of possessing child pornography. An undercover FBI agent noticed files being shared “that depicted terms used in child pornography”. After reviewing the files, the agent traced them to LSU, which led to the arrest of Aaron Joseph Campbell from Amherst, N.Y. (Interestingly enough, he’s from around the Buffalo-area). Even more interesting about this story is that over the last 10 months, authorities have made “at least three other child pornography arrests involving LSU students and faculty”. The reason this story intrigued me was because it shows how easy it is to get caught with something like this. This article shows that there are people out there who are watching what you download, what you’re sharing and where it’s going to. Here at UB, students use a peer-to-peer file sharing program too, so chances are high that one day you might get caught. Maybe I’m just over-thinking this, but I sure as hell would not want the FBI to come knocking on my door and confiscate my computer because I downloaded a porno. I mean, what will you tell your parents?
